Before we jump in … I want to remind you of something: When you work on your mindset to beat things like Imposter Syndrome, it’s important to note, that as you continue to level up there will be new mindset hurdles that bubble up. But the stronger your mindset, the easier it will be to make those quicker shifts without the big setbacks and spirals that keep you playing small or inconsistent.
Keep building up your inner strength (both mindset and spiritual).
Now that we got that out of the way… let’s chat through the 6 ways.
___
⓵ ACKNOWLEDGE + ACCEPT IT
Recognize your feelings, don’t sweep them under the rug.
By first acknowledging the thoughts, you can then begin to put them into perspective.
⓶ MANAGER YOUR INNER CRITIC
Be aware when your internal mean girl starts highlighting your shortcomings. Shut her down quick! “No SHIELA, I’m choosing to focus on facts rather than fear. You can leave now!”
⓷ LIST YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS
Journal your list of accomplishments, positive feedback from clients/friends/family, and how much you’ve grown. Save this journal entry and refer back to it when you need a confidence boost.
⓸ ACCEPT COMPLIMENTS
Say a simple, “thank you.” No need to shortchange yourself, further explain, minimize, etc.
STOP deflecting others’ gratitude or praise.
⓹ IDENTIFY FEAR, FEEL IT + KEEP GOING
Usually, Imposter Syndrome is born out of fear. Identify the fear, feel it, and redirect that energy to help you get out of your comfort zone. Simply put, use your fear as a tool.
⓺ ASK FOR HELP
Share your feelings with a trusted friend or colleague. Understand you’re not alone and it’s perfectly normal when you’re leveling up or making big changes.
If your Imposter Syndrome is very stubborn and deeply rooted and affecting your performance/holding you back, consider working with a qualified coach to help identify the root cause and better help you heal and release mindset blocks associated with it.
